H2O Adventures | Savergre River - Half Day (Class II-III)

Considered one of the cleanest rivers in Central America; the Savegre is an authentic adventure: relaxation and pure action while enjoying the fantastic landscapes.

Trip Itinerary

This adventure starts with an early drive south of Quepos on our a/c minibus.

It takes 1 ½ hours through african oil plantations, teak reforestation projects and incredible landscapes to the river put-in.

On the way there we stop at Santo Domingo mountain village to set our lunch order.

Soon after, we will arrive to Rio Blanco, where we’ll give a safety briefing before we start maneuvering rapids like “Hurricane Rita”, “Boca Diablo” and “Washing Machine”.

We stop for a short hike and nice swim at a waterfall on the river shore. Our half day tour includes a snack of fruits and cookies, the waterfall hike and is back to Quepos before 1pm.

Transfers from Manuel Antonio/Quepos to and from Savegre River; river snack; lunch, all the specialized gear needed for the activity (helmets, life jackets, paddles); professional & bilingual white water rafting guides.

Not Included:

*Transfers outside of Manuel Antonio area, video, photography service, gratuities for your guides. * Transfers outside this area can be arranged with an additional charge.

Swimsuit and/or shorts of a quick drying material; towel; sunscreen (spf-15 or higher); bug repellent, complete change of clothes. Rubber soled shoes that stay on and can get wet (Strap on sandals, tennis shoes or similar). Flip flops are not recommended.

If reserved through a travel agent or hotel, a voucher must be presented before boarding. If reserved directly in our offices please provide invoice. In order to receive full refund for your cancellation you must cancel before 7 p.m. the day before trip departure. For groups (8+) cancellation must be made 5 days before the trip. For high and peak seasons cancellations must be made 7 days before the trip. Please be on time at your specified pickup hotel, no refunds for no-shows. No refunds if trips are cancelled due to high water or other natural causes that would endangered your safety.

Our family of 6 did a kayak tour through the mangrove with this company. We really loved the experience. Top class professional tour. Cristian our tour guide was very knowledgeable, friendly and flexible. We had booked for the sea tour but changed our minds at the last minute to do the mangrove tour and Cristian was fully accommodating of this. He displayed great knowledge of the mangrove ecosystem and we enjoyed learning all about it as we wound our way through the narrow but very calm and peaceful mangrove ecosystem. Beginner kayakers will find this an ideal way to learn kayaking, and even experienced kayakers will enjoy the very different terrain and narrow clogged waterways that are on offer in the mangrove forest. A great day out and a great guide.

My wife and I are in our 40’s and this was our first white water rafting trip. We were a bit nervous and unsure about the level of rapids that would be appropriate for beginners. H2O Adventures assured us the trip would be good for beginners. Luis was our guide and he was amazing. He went over safety instruction and expectations before getting into the raft. We set out on our trip and didn’t stop smiling for the entire time. During our time on the river Luis was clear with his direction and made us feel safe and well taken care of. What a fun, exciting way to see a very beautiful area of Costa Rica. Thank you to everyone at H2O Adventures for taking such great care of us and all of the terrific information on your country. Don’t forget to bring extra money for the photos afterwards that were great and so worth buying.

We went on the Naranjo rafting trip (not the Chorro section). They picked us up at our hotel and took us to the office in Quepos before heading to the river. On the short walk down to the river, our guide showed us some of the native plants like vanilla, ginger, bamboo etc. He even picked some fresh lychee from a tree for us to eat. We got a safety lesson and we were off. I managed to fall in (a rare thing and just dumb on my part) but before my head even popped out of the water our guide had his paddle for me to grab and he pulled me back in the raft in what had to be less than 30 seconds. The whole trip was amazing and definitely recommended.
