Description

Combine adventure, adrenaline and breathtaking scenery. Only 30 minutes away into the mountains from the Manuel Antonio / Quepos area, the Naranjo River offers an exhilarating, exploding section of white water.

Trip Itinerary

This river is the natural southern border of Manuel Antonio National Park. The section we run goes from the town of Villanueva in the mountains to the Llamarón Bridge on the road from Quepos to Dominical.

On these 6 miles of whitewater we will run rapids like “La Piñata”, “El Cesar” & “Robin Hood”. On the second half of our run the river opens up on the Pacific flatlands giving us the opportunity to enjoy the view and see many species of birds like the Ringed King Fisher and the White Ibis.

With a little bit of luck we might be able to see one of the crocodiles that live on the river. Our trip starts at your hotel, where our minibus will pick you up and take you to the put in of the river, passing through the towns of Naranjito & Villanueva.

Once there, our guides will gear you up and after our safety talk we will start our descent maneuvering the rapids of the mighty Naranjo River

Transfers from and to the Manuel Antonio / Quepos area; snack (fruit, juices, water, cookies) in the middle of the tour; all the specialized gear needed for the activity (helmets, PFD’s, paddles); professional, bilingual & friendly guides

Mangrove kayak tour

Our family of 6 did a kayak tour through the mangrove with this company. We really loved the experience. Top class professional tour. Cristian our tour guide was very knowledgeable, friendly and flexible. We had booked for the sea tour but changed our minds at the last minute to do the mangrove tour and Cristian was fully accommodating of this. He displayed great knowledge of the mangrove ecosystem and we enjoyed learning all about it as we wound our way through the narrow but very calm and peaceful mangrove ecosystem. Beginner kayakers will find this an ideal way to learn kayaking, and even experienced kayakers will enjoy the very different terrain and narrow clogged waterways that are on offer in the mangrove forest. A great day out and a great guide.

Best Company In Costa Rica

My wife and I are in our 40’s and this was our first white water rafting trip. We were a bit nervous and unsure about the level of rapids that would be appropriate for beginners. H2O Adventures assured us the trip would be good for beginners. Luis was our guide and he was amazing. He went over safety instruction and expectations before getting into the raft. We set out on our trip and didn’t stop smiling for the entire time. During our time on the river Luis was clear with his direction and made us feel safe and well taken care of. What a fun, exciting way to see a very beautiful area of Costa Rica. Thank you to everyone at H2O Adventures for taking such great care of us and all of the terrific information on your country. Don’t forget to bring extra money for the photos afterwards that were great and so worth buying.

Naranjo river rafting

We went on the Naranjo rafting trip (not the Chorro section). They picked us up at our hotel and took us to the office in Quepos before heading to the river. On the short walk down to the river, our guide showed us some of the native plants like vanilla, ginger, bamboo etc. He even picked some fresh lychee from a tree for us to eat. We got a safety lesson and we were off. I managed to fall in (a rare thing and just dumb on my part) but before my head even popped out of the water our guide had his paddle for me to grab and he pulled me back in the raft in what had to be less than 30 seconds. The whole trip was amazing and definitely recommended.
